Burl Jordan, Assistant Coach (D-Line)

Burl Jordan played defensive tackle at Texas A&M from 2007-2009. The Aggies appeared in the 2007 Valero Alamo Bowl and the 2009 Advocare Independence Bowl during his career. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management with a minor in business from Texas A&M in 2010 and a Master’s degree in education, with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction, from Sam Houston State in 2012 

Before joining HBU, Jordan spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Sam Houston State working with the defensive line. In 2011, he helped guide the Bearkats to an 14-1 finish, including an undefeated regular season, a No. 1 ranking, the Southland Conference championship, and a berth in the FCS Championship game. Sam Houston State finished the 2011 season with the top-ranked defense in the Southland, ranked No. 1 nationally in rushing defense, scoring defense and first down defense and No. 2 nationally in total defense, pass efficiency defense and turnover margin. During the 2010 season, the Bearkats’ defense was the top-ranked unit in the Southland and ranked seventh nationally in rushing defense. They also tied the school and Southland record with 12 sacks in a single game. 
 
Prior to Sam Houston State, Jordan was the offensive and defensive line coach at Brazos Christian High School for one season, with his offensive line helping pave the way for a 1,200-yard rusher.
